What a notarization costs
Straight answer: Kansas no longer sets a maximum fee. The old cap (K.S.A. 53-107) was repealed on January 1, 2022, and the current rule, K.A.R. 7-43-16, just requires that the fee be disclosed and agreed before the notarization. So we tell you the price up front, every time.

Bring this
- The document, unsigned. We have to watch you sign. If it’s already signed, we may not be able to notarize it.
- Valid photo ID for every signer. Driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID, unexpired.
- Everyone who needs to sign. If the form has two signature lines, both people need to be here, or we can do two visits.
- Witnesses, if the document needs them. Wills, some deeds, and some POAs do. Tell us ahead and we’ll help arrange it.

What a notary can and can’t do
A Kansas notary verifies who you are, confirms you’re signing willingly, watches you sign, and completes the notarial certificate. That’s the job. A notary is not an attorney and can’t explain a document, tell you whether to sign it, draft it for you, or certify copies of birth or death certificates. If you need any of that, we’ll point you to the right place rather than pretend.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a notary cost in Wichita?
Kansas doesn’t set a maximum notary fee anymore; the old cap under K.S.A. 53-107 was repealed on January 1, 2022. Under current rules the fee has to be disclosed and agreed before the notarization, which is what we do. In-store notarizations are priced per signature; mobile visits add a travel fee; after-hours calls carry a premium. Call 316-265-9930 and we’ll quote it in a minute.
Do I need an appointment?
Not for a walk-in notarization during store hours, Monday through Saturday 9am to 9pm. Bring the unsigned document and a valid photo ID. Appointments are for mobile visits, online sessions, loan signings, and after-hours.
What ID do I need?
A valid, unexpired government photo ID: driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID. If you don’t have one, Kansas allows identification by a credible witness who knows you and has their own ID. Call first and we’ll explain how that works.
Should I sign the document before I come in?
No. For most notarial acts we have to watch you sign. If it’s already signed, we may not be able to notarize it and you may need a fresh copy.
Can you notarize a document in Spanish?
Yes, if we can communicate directly with the signer and understand the document’s notarial certificate. We have a dedicated Spanish line at 316-835-9090. We can’t notarize a document in a language none of us can read.
Can you notarize for someone in the hospital or in jail?
Yes, that’s what our mobile service is for. Hospital visits are often same-day; jail visits need an appointment because of facility rules.
Do you notarize I-9 forms?
Kansas notaries can act as an authorized representative to complete Section 2 of Form I-9 for a remote employer. That’s not a notarial act and no seal is applied. See our I-9 verification page.
What can’t a notary do?
Give legal advice, explain what a document means, prepare legal documents, or certify copies of vital records like birth certificates (those come from the issuing agency). We’re not attorneys, and we say so.
